Rare lizards found living near Kerang

A colony of rare Hooded Scaly-foot lizards has been discovered near Kerang. The unique type of lizard can grow up to 50cm long and has no forelimb, often making the reptile look like a snake.

A colony of rare legless lizards has been found in central Victoria, one of only five known populations in the state. The hooded scaly-foot lizard is threatened with extinction due to the loss of habitat in northern plains grasslands.
